The initial referral process is overseen by a member of our management team, with the support of senior management. We conduct a comprehensive risk assessment based on essential information provided about the young person being referred. This information includes age, gender, presenting risks, exhibited behaviors, and specific needs. Each of these factors is meticulously evaluated to ensure that our care environment is the best placement for the young person, enabling them to reach their full potential.
As part of the assessment process, we carefully consider the needs of the young people already in our care. We make every effort to avoid placing individuals together who have conflicting or incompatible needs, ensuring a harmonious and supportive environment for all residents.
Whenever possible, we arrange a pre-placement visit. This visit serves multiple purposes: it allows us to further assess the suitability of the placement, and it provides an opportunity to understand the young person’s views and wishes. This step is crucial in our commitment to personalized care and is detailed in our Statement of Purpose.
Our referral procedure ensures that each young person’s placement is thoughtfully considered and tailored to their unique requirements, promoting a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where they can thrive.
At Bingley House, our priority is to ensure that placements are planned and that young people are actively involved in the decision-making process, allowing their voices to be heard. However, we understand that emergencies arise, and we are equipped to accept emergency placements. Even in these situations, careful consideration and a thorough risk assessment are conducted based on the information available.
Emergency placements are accepted only if the following conditions are met:
